Progress with this piece..... I was recently asked what kind of work I do. Bearing in mind that I am out of practice with people and far more comfortable with words and objects; my somewhat flustered response was that I paint with objects. A far better description is that I create paintings with objects. (I say this fully aware that there are those who deny the definition of these works as paintings. I both agree and vehemently disagree.) Note to self - re-read artist’s statement and practice speaking to people again! Engaging and thought provoking exhibition at Spike Island. Benoit Marie ‘Thebes’, on until the 9th December. The works are deeply philosophical and object based.
