Reflection - Mediation : Placement : Adjustment / by Ally McGinn

These words describe my process; the primary considerations and actions of my studio time.

Mediation acknowledges the context of the existing material. It is a process of transformation. It also describes the process of many artists.

The placement of objects, forms and ideas is arguably the action of all artists. However placement can be as specific as required. I find placement in the detail and detail in the placement.

Adjustment acknowledges skill. That the initial idea requires work and development.

These words are descriptors of my process, and therefore vital to my context in broader terms. They are not a focus for contextual research.

I might argue that they are skill based, or at least the application of them in this case is a skill. Therefore with time and practical consideration the skill may improve.
